Rec Express Age Division Information

Rec Express Age Division Information

Over the past several seasons Londonderry Soccer Club Rec Express has implemented several changes to the division structures in order to better develop your children in a safe and age-appropriate manner. We wanted to take a moment to review this information pre-season so you are aware of the specifics of the division your child will be playing in based on their birth year. We have been able to reformat many Rec Express divisions into single birth years and we will continue to work toward implementing this format for most of the remaining divisions as our Club continues to grow.

  • U3 will be coed (2018 birth year for the fall season)
  • U4 will be coed (2017 birth year)
  • U5 will be coed (2016 birth year)
  • U6 will be coed (2015 birth year)
  • U7 offers both Boys and Girls teams (2014 birth year) - games are played in a 4v4 format
  • U8 offers both Boys and Girls teams (2013 birth year) - games are played in a 4v4 format
  • U9 offers Boys and Girls teams (2012 birth year) - games are played in a 7v7 format with a Referee  officiating
  • U10 offers Boys and Girls teams (2011 birth year) - games are played in a 7v7 format with a Referee officiating
    • (Possible exception - U9 and U10 may be combined in Spring IF player numbers do not allow separating the ages - they WILL still remain Boys teams and Girls teams (not coed) if this unexpectedly occurs)
  • U11/U12 is a coed, combined age division (2010 & 2009 birth years) - games are played 9v9 with 3 Referees officiating
  • U13/U14/U15 is a coed, combined age division (2008, 2007 & 2006 birth years) - games are played 11v11 with 3 Referees officiating
  • U16/U17/U18 is a coed, combined age division (2005, 2004 & 2003 birth years) - games are played 11v11 with 3 Referees officiating

In addition, the Rec Express U3 through U8 divisions are led by an A-level certified trainer, Mark Ruest. Mark brings many years of experience and lots of enthusiasm to the fields every week to engage and inspire even our youngest players. On Saturdays, he leads our U3 and U4 groups weekly while U5 and U6 teams will alternate each week between working with their Coaches and training with Mark in an academy style setting (Coaches will still be present on training weeks). Our U7 and U8 players work with Mark (and their Coaches) at a weekly practice and have games on Saturdays at the West Road fields.

LSC Rec Express U9 and up teams have one weeknight practice with their Coach(es) per week as well as a weekend game.

We hope having this information answers any questions you may have about the Spring soccer program. If you have any additional questions, please see the In-Depth Division Information page on our website at http://londonderrysc.org/londonderry-sc-rec-express/in-depth-look-at-girls-boys-division-information or reach out to us at londonderry.soccer@londonderrysoccer.org

We look forward to seeing your players out on the fields soon!

Sincerely,

The LSC Board
